Norton & Kaplan
Robert S. Kaplan is the Marvin Bower Professor of Leadership
Development at Harvard Business School. Formerly he was on the faculty of
the Graduate School of Industrial Administration, Carnegie-Mellon
University, where he also served as Dean from 1977 to 1983. He is the
creator of the Harvard Business School video series Measuring Corporate
Performance and the author or coauthor of more than 120 Papers and ten
books, including, with David Norton, The Balanced Scorecard: Translating
Strategy, into Action. Dr. Kaplan consults on the design of Performance
and cost management systems with leading companies worldwide. His
research, teaching, consulting, and speaking focus on new performance
management and measurement systems, primarily the Balanced Scorecard and
Activity Based Costing. He is the recipient of numerous honors, including
the Outstanding Educator Award from the American Accounting Association
and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) Award for
"Outstanding Contributions to the Accountancy Profession. 9' Dr.

David P. Norton is President of Balanced Scorecard
Collaborative, Inc., a Professional services firm that facilitates the
worldwide awareness, use, enhancement, and integrity of the Balanced
Scorecard. Previously he was the President of Renaissance Solutions, Inc.,
a consulting firm he co-founded in 1992, and of Nolan, Norton &
Company, where he spent seventeen years as President. Dr. Norton is a
management consultant, researcher, and speaker in the field of strategic
performance management. With Robert Kaplan, he is the co-creator of the
Balanced Scorecard concept, coauthor of four Harvard Business Review
articles, and co-author of The Balanced Scorecard: Translating Strategy
into Action. He is a Trustee of Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a
former Director of ACME (The Association of Consulting Management
